No major damage after fire
On September 24, 2012 the Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery in Gardiner, NY suffered an equipment failure, subsequent fire and what appear to have been several small explosions in their distillation room. The incident damaged control mechanisms and finishes of their distillation equipment and the second story of their facility.
According to a November 4, 2012 Daily Freeman article, fire officials determined the fire is the result of an electric spark into vapors. Tuthilltown Spirits website indicates the incident has been officially ruled an accident. The fire was contained in the distilling room only and no one suffered any injury. The building appears to be structurally intact. The shop and tasting room, located in a separate building, were unaffected by the incident and will remain open as aging stocks of their product were also unaffected.
